A Warm Kitchen Update with Maple in Dark Shaker Style

A customer recently purchased this condo which is within walking distance to Central park on the upper west side. It had good bones but needed some updating. The outdated “cherry” cabinets were actually cheap formica style doors and were starting to delaminate. Fortunately, the original cabinet boxes were in good condition and a good candidate for a NY Kitchen Reface.

The plain doors were replaced with rich dark stained maple hardwood doors. The previously indistinct Island was transformed into a beautiful focal point for an open floor plan. The less obtrusive knobs helped in adding to a simple, yet elegant look.

Amazing what a difference refacing your kitchen can make at less then half what a new remodel would have cost.

White Shaker Refaced KitchenWe recently completed a reface on kitchen cabinets in downtown Manhattan. This is a good example of the flexibility which Kitchen Cabinet Refacing offers.

They had wonderful steel upper cabinets that they wanted to keep but the lower cabinets were not looking their best. They also wanted to make some changes to the cabinets without disturbing the existing countertop. The owners chose white Shaker style doors with slab drawer fronts that worked very well here.

They had an abundance of cabinet space so we suggested that they convert some of the lower cabinets, which had standard shelves, to large drawers.  These drawers , suitable for anything other then the largest pots, allow for easy storage and removal of pots and pans and other large kitchen items. No more bending down to reach that object you want way in the back.  Even in smaller kitchens converting to large drawers is an upgrade worth considering.
